Try the following to fix the issue

1. Make sure “/var” and “/var/locks” have 777 directory permission
2. Delete all the files in “/var/locks”
3. Clear cache and try to reindex now from the admin
4. If re-index from admin is not working, try to execute it from shell. Click here for instructions.
